I generally despise e-mail advertising, but if that’s true, why the heck did I read this entire e-mail marketing message addressed to me? I know I’m particularly difficult to market to. I’m in marketing and sales so I’m more likely to diagnose your process than pay attention to what you are trying to sell to me.
So here is my diagnosis:
A) My name was in the e-mail subject. I shouldn’t have fallen for it, but I, like others like to see my name whether it is in lights or apparently in an e-mail message.
B) This came from a real person. If I wanted to e-mail Ashley Hira back at Hiras Tailors I could, and by the way, her name is the name of the business, so now I feel like this “business owner” cares enough to send me a personal message even though I know that this was done through some e-mail program.
C) It was something specific to the area I live in and mentioned specific places that know. I felt like the person was speaking directly to me because of the area mentioned.
If I was in the market right now for a new suit, you bet I would be going to this event. I’m not sure what the whole horsehair barrister reference is about, so maybe their marketing message was a little off, but all in all, well done.
These tips and diagnosis can help you successfully market your business, since so much of what we do is sending communications through e-mail, deploy some of these tips to make your campaigns more successful. Here’s a copy of the e-mail I received below.
